Staycation at Hotel Sofitel, Mumbai
Sometimes travelling to distant places is not an option, as you cannot afford to spend too much time or money. Yet one longs to getaway from the daily life and enjoy a day without any chores and to get a break from everyday responsibilities. On such occasions we think a staycation is an ideal solution whereby one checks into a hotel that is located within their city and enjoys a blissful time off from the daily life making good use of the hotel amenities ;).
Recently we got an opportunity to enjoy staycation at Sofitel, Mumbai BKC through the Accor Advantage Plus Loyalty Program. We had taken up membership with the Accor Group loyalty program, which provides a wide range of discounts and benefits to its members among all their hotels located across the Asia-Pacific. We had received couple of gift vouchers like room upgrade, free dinner and wine etc. so we decided to redeem these during our overnight stay in this 5 star property.

Sofitel is strategically located in Bandra-Kurla Complex, which is one of the up-coming business hubs in Mumbai city. It is very close to both the International and Domestic airport and thus making it an ideal place for stay for most of the Mumbai visitors.
Room
While checking in at Sofitel, we got an instant upgrade to the Junior Suite through the room upgrade voucher. When we were ushered into our Suite, we were quite pleased to see that it was located at the 11th floor, thus giving a beautiful view of the city. Like all its other hotels around the world, Sofitel BKC has maintained its French style interiors with a modern twist and this gives a refreshing change from the typical hotel room decor. The spacious suite had a king size bed along with large living space that had a comfy couch and a writing-table set in the corner of the room.

The best part of the Suite was the walk in closet fitted with a dresser with ample light flowing through the open windows. The bathroom is fitted with a rain shower cubicle and a large oval bathtub provided with ample amount of bath essentials.
Pondicherry Café
Pondicherry Café is an all day dining restaurant that’s serves both buffet and a-la-carte menu. They have a lavish spread of delicacies in the buffet ranging from Indian, Chinese, Italian and Continental. We enjoyed a scrumptious serving of Congee, freshly baked pastries and savouries, mouth-watering vadas and dosas along with freshly squeezed fruit juices. We also loved their lunch buffet spread and it is interesting how every month they organize themed food festivals dedicating menus to various regions around the world.

Tuskers is a pure vegetarian fine-dining specializing in authentic Gujarati and Rajasthani cuisine. The restaurant has a classy yet calm atmosphere and the staff is very courteous offering you relevant suggestions from the menu. We relished on sakarkand ki sabzi (sweet potato curry) with freshly made phulkas that were loaded with white butter, licking every last morsel of this flavorful meal.
Staying at the Suite we were provided with access to the Club lounge that was located at the top floor of the hotel. We spent good part of the cocktail hour sipping on free bubblies enjoying the uninterrupted view of the city from the open balcony.
Overall experience
Our staycation at the Sofitel was a perfect short break we were looking for loaded with good food, comfortable stay and just within few minutes drive from our home. If one is looking for a luxury stay in Mumbai city, we would say this the place to be, with its beautiful rooms, highly attentive staff catering to your every need, world-class facilities and mostly a convenient location for all the travellers be it for business or leisure.

TOTS were the guests at Sofitel Mumbai BKC, these are our opinions based on the stay experience.
Sofitel was like second home when I worked with Citi because most of our training programs were held there… though I find it a bit tacky… it’s a nice place to be in 🙂
